This series of work has developed from an exhibition piece made for Shakespeare's Ophelia from Hamlet. She expressed her thoughts through flowers. I have included in her crown, Rosemary for remembrance, daises for innocence, willow as she drowned while harvesting some for sadness, pansies for thought, rue for regret, nettles, crow flower (or Ragged Robin) Robin was Hamlet's nickname, purple orchid or dead man's fingers, and poppies from Elizabeth Siddall who was the model for Milai's Ophelia (the famous image of Ophelia in the stream covered with flowers, Elizabeth died from laudanum overdose.)
I have since made a number of sculptural crowns and tiaras, and have made commissioned hair pieces for brides.
